Snake Corp Cards from Traders Galaxy

Snake Corp Cards from Traders Galaxy

A treat for all Bot War group members. First look at updated Snake Corp cards!!

The more astute among you may notice that the Snake Corp Bots have some interesting stats but little to no Special Rules. While at the same time the Snake Corp vehicles and Infantry could be quite powerful. This reflects Snake Corps relatively recent exposure to Bot tech and their incredible advancement of conventional tech. The strongest Snake Corp faction would be a nice mix of all elements in my opinion. In fact Snake Corp is the little bit of everything force in Bot War. Not amazing in any area but ok in all areas.

The Snake Corp companions are arguably the best companions in the game. They can really boost existing equipment to the max!

I'd be interested in your thoughts?

VW Type 183 Iltis from Aotrs Shipyards

Aotrs Shipyards is a webstore on Shapeways.com, a 3D print house which had production and shipping facilities located in the USA and the Netherlands. Aotrs Shipyards also takes direct printing commissions.

Slightly later than usual, and just the one model this time. This month's release is the VW Type 183 Iltis in 144th!

February is always a busy month and even more so this year, between the pantomime I do annually and preparations for Hammerhead at the start of March (creating, printing and painting one-and-a-half sci-fi armies), and a commission. I intended to do a variant with MILAN, but I just haven't found the time, though that is on the list of things to do shortly.

VW Type 183 Iltis

This model comes in a sprue of four.

Aotrs Shipyards direct price: £3.20 GBP (beta price for a single model)

Photos of Replicator 2 variant.

As mentioned we will be down at Hammerhead on the 2nd of March as per usual, doing Manoeuvre Group sci-fi.

At the moment, I've not looked much further ahead until that's all out of the way, but in the pipeline is the Kozak 2M (which is the commission), the aforementioned Iltis MILAN variant and the Spartan.

Sand Crawler Amphibious Transport from Traders Galaxy

New work in progress Atlantican sand crawler amphibious transport.

Atlantican Sandcrawler! Sandcrawlers are an instrumental part of King Gills invasion forces. Able to transport a squad of mermen into battle, they are also delicate ecosystems filled with fresh nourishing seawater. Democracy troops call SandCrawlers “a fish tank on wheels” because essentially that is what they are. Sandcrawler transports are just one of the new releases coming for 2nd Edition in April

Still some elements to add. Looks chunky I think and can transport an Atlantican infantry squad!

Exciting Times for Bot War from Traders Galaxy

Exciting Times for Bot War from Traders Galaxy

Exciting times for Bot War. The second edition rules are being editing now. A host of new models are being printed for release next month. Including more Bashers down the track!

Loads of new cards including many for models not yet made. Plenty of scope for conversions!!

Loads of new cards including many for models not yet made. Plenty of scope for conversions!!

Rules:

Rules:

Overall the core rules are not changing. Cubes and dice dynamics remain how they are now.

Updates include additional special rules like Combat Sword, Loose circuit plus many more.

Additional game dynamics such as Transport rules. Transports will make up for the overall downgrading of infantry. However infantry become very dangerous in numbers because of Focus Fire. Plus they are cheap.

Model classifications like Infantry sections, squads and platoons. Units for larger creatures and bots. For example guard bots are now 3 to a base as a unit. They receive increased firepower and close attack but low damage and high susceptibility to blast weapons.

Air Support receives a big boost which will make air support units very scary for lightning attacks. Isolated enemy models will be particularly vulnerable. Air support is now quite different to dedicated flyers.

Also all the old scenarios are back with 3 new ones for a total of 10.

Additionals

I have included a more in depth intro covering the arrival of the Bots during the first Atlantican War. Also some smaller stories to help flavour the setting for Bot War. Also some brief descriptions for each faction to give a feel for what motivates them (including overlords and trashers). These are more in depth in the intro for each card set as well. Lots of great pics and a couple of artwork pictures help give a nice theme to the rules.

I am quite pleased how the 2nd ed rules have turned out. Nice freshen up with additionals to deepen the more fringe aspects of the game.

Plus I am confident it’s print friendly now

Finally, just another heads up that several models will be replaced soon.

These are -

Duke
Ironskin
Wrench
Prowler
Silverstreak

I suggest placing the sets that include these models on you next order to avoid disappointment. Although the new ones are also cool as too.

An Update on the Battlefield Land Acquisition Grant Program

I wanted to share some great news with you out of Washington, D.C. Last week, Congress passed the Fiscal Year (FY) 2019 Interior Appropriations Bill, which for the fourth consecutive year included full funding for the federal Battlefield Land Acquisition Grants program.

This unique resource, administered by the National Park Service's American Battlefield Protection Program, has protected more than 30,000 acres of hallowed ground at Revolutionary War, War of 1812 and Civil War battlefields across 20 states and is one of the most successful land preservation programs in American history. Grants from this program, matched by your own generous donations, have been essential to many of our now-storied land deals. I sincerely hope you will join me in thanking members of the House and the Senate for their work to ensure that this program is fully funded.

While this latest news is truly a tremendous win for battlefield preservation, the work at hand continues. Right now, Congress is considering H.R.307 and S.225 the Preserving America's Battlefields Act which would reauthorize this critical program at $20 million per year through FY2028 and provide crucial funding for the interpretation and restoration of our preserved battlefields.

As you well know, we are in a race against the clock to preserve our country's still-unprotected battlefields before they are lost forever. Now is the time to make sure that we have the tools we need to continue to safeguard these outdoor classrooms and memorials to our nation's heroes of past and present for years to come.

Please take a minute to  reach out to your Representatives and Senators to ask them to support the Preserving America's Battlefields Act. And thanks again to YOU for all you do, and have done, to advocate on behalf of battlefield preservation.

If you haven't already, please reach urge your representatives to continue supporting our nation's hallowed grounds. Sending a letter only takes a few minutes.

Overlord - Cerebrum Lanista

Intergalactic gamblers, the Overlords have been attracted to earth because of the Bot Wars. Eager to test their latest creations far from the gladiatorial fighting pits of their home planet, the Overlords think the experience their progeny receive fighting the Bots will give them edge in the pits.

If their mutants die on the battlefield then they will simply “requisition” the Bots to the pits instead. After all the rules say nothing about your fighter having to be organic!

Thank You For Your Support from Traders Galaxy

I thought I would take this chance to thank you for your support.

Thank You For Your Support

Thank You For Your Support

As you may already know my company Traders Galaxy is just a one man side show. I say side show because I also work a full time job and do Traders Galaxy in the evenings and weekends mostly.

Every now and then I get some very valued help from Mr Aidan Spittles. Obviously, also I could not do it at all without my wife and kids who keep life in operational order.

It would be great to get your feedback on the game and miniatures so I can continually improve them. The first edition rulebook has had almost 100 downloads so I would be very keen to know if everyone is actually playing the game and if so, what they think of it? Pics or battle reports would be great!

Likewise it would be good to hear about the models. Especially for those not used to assembling metal models. As someone who has always preferred metal it is difficult to get in the plastic only mindset.

How are people going on terrain? Are you finding terrain for the scale easy to source?

What about your friends and game clubs? How are they receiving the game? What is their feedback?

How is everyone going with the download rulebook format? I will be making 2nd
Edition more print friendly for sure.

Finally, does anyone have any thoughts for what limited edition models I should release for March and April? I was thinking that April’s limited edition set would contain only 6 heads.

It would be great to hear everyone’s comments especially those who have never commented before. The more contributors to this group the better the game and models will become :)

Cheers -Ant

Project Update #1: 13th Century 10mm Baronial Wars English Army miniatures Kickstarter from Apocalypse Miniatures

That was quick, popped out to watch Alita Battle Angel at the cinema (which is in my opinion ace) and we have hit our target already - so thank you so much to all that have pledge and supported.

Its late here - so in the morning I will start adding stretch goals.

Am thinking to cover costs they will need to be every £200.

A couple of folks have questioned/pm'ed whether we will be doing more foot, so we will make the first stretch goal a foot miniature. After that mix foot and mounted between.

Thanks again for your quick support and feel free to message here or PM us with questions, wants and honest views.

Thanks again - apocminis.

The First Fight for Freedom: African Americans in the Revolutionary War

The First Fight for Freedom: African Americans in the Revolutionary War

Long before the United States Colored Troops (USCT) fought in the American Civil War to help free their people from the shackles of slavery, African Americans fought for liberty in the American Revolution. They fought on both sides. They fought as slaves or free men. Few of them gained recognition for their efforts - but they laid the groundwork for what would come. Here are 5 things you may not know about African Americans in the Revolutionary War.

1. They were on the front lines even before the war began. Crispus Attucks, an African American dockworker, was the first patriot to die in the Boston Massacre in 1770. Between 1775 and 1781, 5,000 African Americans, both free and enslaved, fought for American independence in the Revolutionary War. African Americans were with Washington during the famed Ten Crucial Days, helping turn the tide of the fledgling revolution at the close of 1776. And they were digging and manning the siege lines at Yorktown to bring major military actions to an end in 1781.

2. Washington initially did not accept African Americans in his army. General George Washington, a slave owner, initially banned African Americans from the Continental Army out of fear that arming them could lead to uprisings against slavery. But when Virginia's British Royal Governor, Lord Dunmore, promised to free any slave who left his master to serve alongside British forces, Washington and the Patriot Congress quickly shifted their policies. This change created a stronger, and integrated army for Washington, with black men fighting beside their white comrades for the same cause.

3. For African Americans, the fight for freedom was two-fold. African Americans, free and slave alike, were caught in the middle of a war between the Continental and British armies. Promised their freedom in exchange for military service, thousands answered the call, motivated by the hope of a better life or just the prospect of gaining the basic right of self-determination. While some African Americans did indeed receive their freedom after the war, promises were bent or broken by Americans and British alike and many veterans returned to slavery.

4. One of the most important spies of the Revolution was a slave named James Armistead. Armistead got permission from his owner to volunteer for the Continental Army, where he served under the Marquis de Lafayette. Lafayette entrusted Armistead to spy on the British army by pretending to be an escaped slave. In return, he received invaluable intelligence that helped deliver the Patriot victory at Yorktown. After the war, Armistead was returned to slavery and his fight for freedom continued. In 1787, Lafayette intervened on his behalf and the newly-free Armistead became James Armistead Lafayette as a token of his gratitude.

5. The idealistic Marquis de Lafayette was an open critic of slavery after the American Revolution. When Lafayette visited New Orleans on a tour of the United States in 1824, he greeted African American Revolutionary War veterans who had migrated there. According to historian Jack Kelly, Lafayette "was troubled by the failure of the founding generation to confront the great paradox of a people dedicated to freedom holding others in bondage." This paradox would not be resolved for another 41 years, beginning with Confederate capitulation at Appomattox Court House and finally with the ratification of the thirteenth amendment.

13th Century 10mm Baronial Wars English Army miniatures Kickstarter from Apocalypse Miniatures

13th Century 10mm Baronial Wars English Army miniatures Kickstarter from Apocalypse Miniatures

Highly detailed 13th Century Baronial Wars English 10mm Medieval Wargames MIniatures, molded then cast in high quality pewter.

This project manifested itself due to a conversation I had with my son while we were visiting a couple of castles while on holiday in Northumberland with the family last year.

Our daughter had broken her arm weeks earlier and had to go for a check up to see how it was healing (kids and cart wheels on wet grass - say no more).

Me and my son were therefore on our own for the day and decided that we would go for a drive to Ford and Etal castles just north of where we were staying. Both were great to walk around but the real starting point was the small exhibition at Ford Castle where there was a tiny diorama showing the Battle of Flodden in 15mm. We chatted all day after that about the miniatures and exhibition we had seen and what we liked regarding armour, weaponry etc...

After frantically researching back at base we both agreed on making a range but the period that interested us most (and which we both agreed on looking deeper into) was the 13th century and the Baronial wars.

After plenty of discussions and debates about sculpts - armour types and poses with John Robertson (the sculptor) we agreed on the following.

5 x mounted pieces - 3 x knights and 2 x Sergeants

2 x foot pieces - 1 x archer and 1 x foot militia spearmen.

This we thought would easily allow folks to re-enactment/game and re-create most battle of that time.

Images Of The Sculpts

I know we are saying it but these really are totally amazing sculpts and yes they are 10mm - John Robertson has spent a great amount of time sourcing the correct clothing and armour and poses and he is currently  working on further sculpts to help expand the line.

 Minis Per Pack

So we are going to go with...

30 foot per pack and 15 mounted - reason being in the long term we want some characters, standards etc that could be added to the base/elements/units - and you usually need just a couple of these to make your units/bases/elements up. These are usually based up as 8 per base for foot and 4 mounted pieces per base (more action and scenic style basing can have as many or as little miniatures on them as you wish though).

Add-ons / Stretch Goals

Some 10mm gamers enjoy regimented miniatures in exact same poses so that they are easily recognizable on the gaming table and/or easier/familiar to paint.

Some enjoy a variant range of minis in the army to give the battlefield a more realistic feel, it can also depend on the army or unit type.

We will be converting some of the pieces and depending on the success of the kickstarter release these as options to purchase as add-ons to your pledges. These of course could be mixed into the packs you buy or based on their own as independent units - all depends on how successful we get really.

Feedback And Direction

As always we would love to hear from you as to poses and sculpts you would like to see produced on this kickstarter and potential projects moving forward.

I am a little nifty with scenery pieces and if interested i could make a range on relevant 10mm pieces if folks want them.

Once we have produced all the unit types and poses we think are necessary for the English during this period then we will move onto Scottish and Welsh forces next and then those horrible French types - SACRE BLUE!

Stretch Goals / Add Ons

We will release a new miniature every £200 as this is around the amount that will help cover sculpt and molding costs. We will mix up the type of sculpts between foot and mounted types as best we can.  These packs will priced depending on your pledge level but accessible to everyone. The more you pledge therefore the more you will save.

Risks and challenges

After our highly successful Oldhammer scenery and Pestilence 28mm miniatures projects we predict again no risks or challenges to the project other than if pledgers want to see more sculpts produced, we will need the extra time to sculpt/mold and cast them up. Everything was shipped out successfully for Oldhammer scenery and all pledgers were happy (we are still in the process of fulfilling the latter).

Our mold and resin masters were provided by the folks down at Hysterical games last year. The master and production molds will be made by Macrocosm games who have already started on them (pics in coming soon) and casting from ourselves or outsourcing if we don't get our casting machine sup and running properly and effectively. Either way we will hit our deadline.

We have put a very generous time frame on getting all pledges out (April 2019) but we foresee all pledges out within a few months of the project being completed. We have put 2 weeks on the project as we had lots of interest and folks asking to want these ASAP - the sooner it ends the sooner we can cast up and ship out.

Shipping

The shipping has not been added due to the weight discrepancies on the possible amount people want. However these are 10mm - and although cast in pewter postage and packaging costs should relatively cheap in general.

We like to use Hermes and parcel Monkey ensuring items are signed for and insured at all times and you can track them at every stage.

Minimum prices are below depending on how small or large your pledge is.

Minimum approximate postage costs to:

UK - £3.00
EUROPE:£8.50
NORTH AMERICA : £9.50
REST OF THE WORLD: £12
