COVID-19 Update from TTCombat

COVID-19 Update from TTCombat

IMPORTANT info about the TTCombat webstore within!

Folks, it’s a sad day I’m afraid.

Unfortunately the worldwide pandemic of COVID-19 has finally hit us here in TTCombat towers.

As of this Wednesday we will be shutting the warehouse until everything has blown over. If you place an order before that date we’ll do our utmost best to get it out to you, but we’re already running on a skeleton crew so we can’t promise anything.

Although down here in Cornwall we’re fairly isolated the virus has found its way even to rural villages like this one. Our staff are our most important resource, and we’ve decided that before it gets any worse we’re going to be social distancing and stopping production.

This is obviously a massive disappointment for everyone at work and we’re sure all of you TTCombat fans out there.

While we’ll do our best during the downtime to keep everyone updated with what’s happening and new things, the truth is that outside of the offices there’s not much we can do! With resin production stopping, design stopping, and photography stopping there won’t be much to see!

However, the silver lining is that when things clear up we’ll all be champing at the bit to get back to work and start bringing you all some awesome models again!

In the meantime, if you need to get hold of anyone from the TTCombat offices, info@ttcombat.com is the email address, although due to being out of the office it’s going to very unlikely that we’ll be able to reply. Instead, you’re better off messaging us on the relevant Facebook page. While we won’t be working and won’t have access to things like replacements, prize support, or order queries, we can still help out with questions about rules and painting since we’ll be doing a lot of that ourselves in our time off!

Our thoughts go out to everyone already struggling through these trying times, and our thanks to everyone that is self-isolating or social distancing, and a massive thanks to those workers in essential jobs that are helping to keep things running and providing care for those who need it.

One final note from everyone living down here in Cornwall: if you’re considering coming to Cornwall on holiday, please don’t! Our one hospital is already pushed to breaking point, and the county cannot handle a mass virus with visitors. We love having you all down here, but at the moment coming to the beaches is one of the most dangerous things you can do. So thank you, but please come back next year!

Thanks again to all of our fans. Take care, stay healthy and we’ll see you on the other side.

Dropzone Commander 2.1 Available Now from TTCombat

Dropzone Commander 2.1 Available Now

It’s release day of the updated Dropzone Commander rulebook. It’s such a good deal we’re practically giving it away!

It’s Friday once more and our pre-order window for the new, small format Dropzone rulebook is over. Copies are being transported as I type and those that pre-ordered should have theirs soon.

Dropzone Commander 2.1 Available Now

Little Big Updates

This new version of the rules updates a small number of areas thanks to feedback from our passionate fans. Some of the rules in Battle for Earth were a bit clunky, but we’ve cleaned them up and improved upon an already excellent ruleset.

Lewis has already been through all of the biggest updates in this little rulebook in a series of articles. Rather than quote or repeat them here I’ll link them for you to view at your leisure.

Reduced

Collateral

Close Quarters

Once you’ve had a gander at those articles, why don’t you check out the rest of the rulebook. If you like small format physical copies, this book will set you back a minuscule £10. Though if you like your rulebooks in digital format…

Absolutely Free!

Yes, we mean absolutely free, no charge, zero cost to you. Thanks to the magic of the internet (and Lewis’ PDF editing skills) you can find the interactive PDF rulebook here!

This interactive rulebook can also be found over in the resources section of the Dropzone Commander website. You can find the new fast play sheets and starter box construction guides here as well!

Starter Bundles

Starter Bundles

We also have some great bundles to get you started with Dropzone Commander. The two-player starter returns in full force. Now with a command option for both the UCM and Scourge, this is a great place to jump into the fray. For £45 this starter is a steal.

It gets even better as we’re letting you bundle in either a Cityscape or Ruinscape for an additional £10. That’s the same again in savings over buying one separately!

Both the starter and rulebook are available for purchase over on our webstore.

You thought that was it?

This week sees 4 products restocked with UCM and Shaltari getting new units. The Panda and the Tegu add some more options to their factions and some interesting choices. Spare Bear – take a Panda. Opponent with a hate for gates – take some Tegus.

Along with those new options we see restocks for the Overseer/Desolator and the Mercury Scout Drones. Available to purchase right now over on the webstore.

You can find the rules for all of these in the Army Builder over on dropzonecommander.com

Introducing the Panda and the Tegu from TTCombat

Introducing the Panda and the Tegu

With this weeks restocks we released two new units. The UCM Panda and the Shaltari Tegu. Let’s take a look at these new units and see what they offer to their respective forces.

Both of the new units are transports of differing types. The Panda, as we shall see is an APC with a bonus. The Tegu is what happens when the Shaltari get fed up with you blowing up their gates. They stick a big gun on one and make it a walker.

UCM Panda

UCM Panda

The Panda Tactical Support APC has been designed by the UCM to boost infantry in intense dropzones. Linking up with their scanning arrays and digi-displays the Pandas Scan Booster Unit allows them to find key intel quicker than usual, allowing their Legionaires to get in and out quickly. Completely unarmed due to the space needed to power and control the Scan Booster Unit.

The Scan Booster Unit also gives them improved targeting data on enemy units within range, allowing them to target weak points far easier. Because of this it has become almost standard practice amongst newly raised legions to take a Panda in place of one Bear on almost all engagements. The extra Condor space required does mean they will never fully replace the Bear APC, however it is certainly a powerful addition.

On the table top, the Panda is really just an unarmed Bear taking up 6 slots on a Condor or Albatross. It carries the same trailer as a Kodiak with a change of aerial. This is the Scan Booster Unit, this allows all units within 6″ of the Panda to use any scan tokens also within 6″ of the Panda. Essentially this means it is possible for an infantry unit to use scan tokens up to 12″ away for searching! Use the Panda to supplement your Bears.

As an added effect of the Scan Booster Unit, all units within 6″ of the Panda can also use a Scan token to give themselves a reroll on a damage roll in a shooting attack. This means you can use your scan token for that all important shooting action too!

Shaltari Tegu

Shaltari Tegu

The Shaltari Tegu is a relatively new sight for the UCM forces. Only seen as the Battle for Earth started, which means it’s unknown whether it’s a new design or whether it’s used only be the Tribes recently joining the conflict. Either way, it has presented quite a problem for opposing forces, not jsut the UCM.

It has always been known that when engaging the Shaltari, target and destroy their Gates and the battle quickly turns in your favour. That prospect becomes a lot harder when the gate is on a battle-walker chassis and has a Sonic Canon attached to it! Materialising  more battle walkers, smaller skimmers and warsuits. The Tegu has been a key contributor to multiple losses by Triumvirate forces already and is now considered a priority target and threat.

On the tabletop, the Tegu is something quite different. Competing for a support role with the Firedrake it has far less transport capacity and is armed with just a Sonic Cannon, a decent weapon against lighter armour and useful for breaking bunkers apart.

However it is cheaper than the Firedrake, by a whopping 50 points and can be taken in squads of up to 3. This makes up for it’s lower transport value, though it is unable to materialise the Heavy choices for Shaltari.

Have a look at the various combinations you can make in Frontline, Armour and Vanguard Battlegroups using the Tegu, remember the Daimyo Battlesuit can always attach itself to another Infantry squad too, The Tegu really improves the versatility of the already versatile Shaltari.

Stats and rules for the Panda and Tegu are on the Dropzone Commander Army Builder now. And available to buy from our webstore.

Let us know how you get on with the new units, and we’ll be back with more goodies soon.

And yes, new Scourge stuff is coming, you really think they haven’t got some aces up their sleeve after all this time? They are just waiting for the right moment.

Dropzone New Rules – Close Quarters from TTCombat

Dropzone New Rules – Close Quarters from TTCombat

Alright, it’s the big one.

All this week we’ve been talking about some of the rules tweaks in the 2.1 version of Dropzone Commander which – incidentally – is on pre-order right now!

2.1 version of Dropzone Commander

Well, for our last preview this week, we’re going to be talking about the big one: Close Quarters.

Dropzone 2.0 CQ saw one of the biggest changes between editions, and it’s one that’s been met with a lot of positivity, although also a fair amount of controversy among veteran players.

Now, you’ll definitely fall on one side of the fence or the other here when I say that CQ hasn’t had a big change. It’s still a Shooting attack, and is still done one at a time. It’s still dangerous to enter Garrisons either first or second (depending on your dice rolls). And you’ll still want to be taking more infantry in your armies than you did in the first edition of the game.

CQB

However, we do have one massive change to CQ weapons.

They can only be used in Garrisons.

So Praetorians can’t wreck a Warstrider out in the open and Razorworms will want to be chewing on people, not landed Aircraft.

Of course, there are some situations where you do want to just get out and chop up tanks. It’s not going to happen much, but what about Stalkers or Eviscerators?

CQB picture 2

Well, this little change to the shooting rules will help that!

This bit, taken from the “Measure Range” section has had a tiny tweak too. A target in physical contact with the shooting unit always counts as in range for all of its weapons. While this doesn’t overwrite CQ weapons needing to be in a Garrison, things with other close ranged weapons like the Oppressor’s Razor Claws will always be in range if in base to base.

No more hiding behind huge footprints, Leviathans!

These couple of little changes might not look like much, but help each unit to function in its desired way. Dropzone is a game of hard sci-fi, so having people charging across the battlefield with swords to chop up giant mechs isn’t what we’re going for! Certain infantry units will be getting alternate attack profiles for doing that if they really want to, but generally speaking your vicious close quarters fighting should be happening inside Garrisons.

Oh, and while we’re talking about Infantry inside Garrisons, here’s one last little taster today:

CQB picture 3

Soft Cover and Body Cover now only work on Infantry! A vehicle can be Hull Down, but not Hull Down and in Soft Cover. A little change that has big ramifications – again, straight from player feedback.

That’s it for this rules update! There are a bunch of other small tweaks in the new version, but we’ll leave those to everyone else to find – we don’t like to spoil everything for you!

Don’t forget to pre-order your copy of the new rulebook today, or even one of the 2-Player Starter Boxes or bundles!

New Releases – DZC v2.1 from TTCombat

New Releases – DZC v2.1 from TTCombat

It’s new release day in Dropzone land!

We’ve been chatting about it all week, and now the new Dropzone small format rulebook is here!

Dropzone small format rulebook

Our very first release today is of course the brand new Dropzone Commander Rulebook.

This book contains the V2.1 rules in their entirety, as well as some background story information for those jumping into the universe for the first time.

With dozens of small tweaks to the rules in Battle for Earth, this new and small version of the rulebook has been written with gamers at its heart. We used feedback from all over the community to make a solid and easy-to-learn version of the game. At 64 pages it’s not going to break your back either, making it perfect for taking to games and introducing new players.

At just £10 this new book is a bargain!

Contents

With a new rulebook is a new Dropzone Commander 2-Player Starter Box!

This set has loads of stuff in a small box! 2 opposing armies of UCM and Scourge fight it out. You get a force of plastic miniatures as well as resin commanders and transports.

The box also contains an acrylic blast marker and range ruler, as well as dice and quick reference cards. Oh and of course the full new rulebook!

This massive set is enough for 2 people to get playing the game, and at £45 it’s an extremely affordable way to enter the game. For comparison’s sake, a single starter army is £35, £10 for the extra Commander, another £10 for the rulebook, and that’s not even counting the dice, cards, and extras!

Starter Box Cityscape

The only thing missing in the 2-Player Starter Box is scenery, and we’ve got a couple of awesome bundles for you!

A Cityscape box contains a full 6’x4′ gaming board. With 24 one-foot tiles and 20 card buildings designed to look like a pristine UCM city, the box is already great value at £30 retail.

However, if you buy it with the new 2-Player Starter Box, it’s only £10! That means you get an entire board, 2 armies, a rulebook and extras for only £55!

If you like your warzones a little more rugged, then this bundle with the Ruinscape will be more up your street (and there are a lot of streets).

These tiles and buildings are designed to look like a UCM city that’s been abandoned for 150 years (lousy mankind running off and leaving everyone else behind. That’s the Resistance player in me talking). Both the Ruinscape and Cityscape have double-sided tiles, so you have literally thousands of ways of buildings your board.

Again, buy them together and the set is £55.

Flood Defence Section

Our final release today has been waiting for the right time to come out. It’s the Flood Defence Section.

If you’re looking to upgrade your card tiles to a full board, we have a whole board for you to use!

The Flood Defence Section adds to that board, offering a split level design that you could easily fill with rubble or even water effects to create a beautiful gaming space! Or – both! Then it looks pretty and dirty at the same time.

The Flood Defence Section is a 1’x1′ board tile, and comes in at £7.

That’s all our new releases today, although I think you’ll agree that it’s a pretty amazing week for Dropzone Commander players!

These are on pre-order now, so get your orders in so we can ship them out in time for release next Friday. These kits and the book are bound to be popular, so order quick to get yours as fast as possible! Head over to the TTCombat webstore now to get yours and have a look at our ever-expanding range of Dropzone Commander kits.

Small Dropzone Rulebook from TTCombat

Small Dropzone Rulebook from TTCombat

It’s double Dropzone back to back this week!

First of all, there is a new small format Dropzone rulebook!

This new book is a version 2.1, and has a bunch of updated rules based on community feedback!

We’ll be going into more detail on some of the changes in the coming week, but for now we can say that all of your comments have been read and we think that some of the tweaks in this new set of rules will be very welcomed by a lot of people.

The book is A5 size and has about a dozen pages of background lore before getting stuck straight into the rules. At 64 pages it’s a super handy size for playing your games. Battle for Earth is a glorious book, but it’s pretty heavy to take on the bus to your gaming club.

This new book is going on pre-order this Friday!

I bought Battle for Earth, I don’t want to have to buy another expensive book!
We get that!

We’d love for Dropzone players to pick up this new book (printing books costs a lot!), and I can happily say that this new book is just £10.

However, if that’s still not cheap enough, how about a digital version?

That’s right, for the first time, Dropzone Commander will have a PDF digital download version of the rulebook. This one is just rules, with plenty of handy bookmarks to quickly click through to the section you want to reference.

And the cost of the digital one? Free! When the paperback hits shelves, you’ll also be able to download the rules entirely free from www.dropzonecommander.com

2-Player Starter Box

With the new small format rulebook we’re also releasing a new 2-Player Starter Box!

This set combines the beauty of the plastic sprues from the starter armies with the brand new resin commanders. You get:

UCM: 3 Sabres, 3 Rapiers, 6 Legionnaires, 2 Bears, 3 Condors, 1 Wolf LAV, and 1 Titania Raven.
Scourge: 3 Hunters, 3 Reapers, 6 Warriors, 2 Invaders, 3 Marauders, 1 Despot, and 1 Intruder.

Dropzone Commander Rulebook.

Accessories:  3 fast play sheets, 10 dice, an acrylic blast marker and range ruler.

We’ve also got a couple of special 2-Player Box bundles coming your way on Friday, but I’m not spoiling everything today!

We’ll have more information on the new rulebook and what that means for your games, so keep an eye out right here on TTCommunity.

Shaltari Daimyo from TTCombat

The Shaltari commander is here. Have a look at this incredible model in our latest 360 spin around.

Shaltari Daimyo

Shaltari Daimyo

At first glance the Daimyo is not very well armed, 4 shots, energy 3 in CQ and nothing else is, well, poor. However, if he causes a single point of damage against a squad in a garrison, he can immediately move that squad out of the garrison into the great outside. If you have some anti-infantry weapons set up out there, well that’s just some happy coincidence I’m sure.

What’s the giant portal being erected by it’s guardians I here you ask? Well after the Daimyo has entered a building, transported the enemy out of it to their bloody deaths it can simply have the portal set up and immediately go into holding. Even if the enemy do get back in, he’ll be long gone.

The Shaltari Daimyo is now available to order on our webstore and comes with two units of Firstborns. Pick yours up today and don’t forget to let us know what you think in the comments!

Dropzone Commander Restocks Wave 6 from TTCombat

It’s Wave 6 for the Dropzone Commander Restocks so let’s take a look at what has had new moulds made and now available in our shop permanently.

No new units today I’m afraid, we do have 3 restocks though. All 3 completely out of stock and have been for a while. Let’s take a look at what’s now available.

UCM Sabre / Rapier

UCM Sabre Rapier picture 1

The UCM Sabre is the mainstay of the UCM Armour Divisions. Armed with an Avenger Railgun on an articulated Turret and an Equalizer Machine Gun for dealing with infantry. UCM Sabres have been responsible for incalculable numbers of kills during the Reconquest. Following the standard UCM design of utilitarian, easy to build and efficient in it’s mission profile. The Sabre has been a crucial part of the UCM’s success so far.

UCM Sabre Rapier picture 2

The UCM Rapier uses the Sabre chassis but swaps the Avenger Railgun for a Vindicator Machinegun. The Vindicator has fantastic tracking scanners, allowing it to target aircraft, even fast flying aircraft. The Rapier has therefore become the staple Anti-Aircraft weaponry platform for the UCM during the Reconquest.

UCM Sabre Rapier picture 3

This kit comes with three Saber/Rapier hulls and turret options to make up to 3 of either Sabres or Rapiers for £12.

Shaltari Tarantula / Birdeater

Shaltari Tarantula / Birdeater picture 1

The Shaltari Tarantula is a smaller anti-armour walker within the Shaltari Tribes. Able to climb walls to move across the battlefield at great speed, the UCM have lost many armour squads to Tarantula ambush.  It’s esoteric Gravity Cannon physically crushes armour under the weight of increased gravity, the heavier the target, the more damage it can do. Though it will hurt anti-grav vehicles, their innate ability to resist gravity gives them a slight defence against it.

Shaltari Tarantula / Birdeater picture 2

The Birdeater shares a chassis with the Tarantula, however it swaps the Grav-Cannon for a pair of Ion Cannons. This gives the Shaltari a very mobile anti-air platform. Many a Dropship has come down to, what was thought to be a safe landing zone to see a Birdeater appear on a building and shoot it down.

Shaltari Tarantula / Birdeater picture 3

This kit comes with 2 hulls with options to make 2 of either Tarantulas or Birdeaters. For just £12.

Resistance Storm / Thunder Wagons

Resistance Storm / Thunder Wagons picture 1

The Resistance Storm Wagons offer a crude, yet effective rocket barrage. Simple steel girders or pressurised gas containers are used as a platform for crude rockets , simply launched in the direction of the target. Even when targeting buildings, the rockets miss just as often as they hit! However they are very easily assembled and thrown into battle, this means they can make up for their crude accuracy with mass of fire.

Resistance Storm / Thunder Wagons picture 2

The Thunder Wagons swap the small, crude rockets for one very large Missile known as a Golgotha Missile. This has some rudimentary ability to be accurately targeted, at least more so than the crude rockets of the Storm Wagons. The Golgotha Missile will smash a wall from a building and can really hurt even heavy armour. On the Downside they are difficult and expensive for the Resistance to produce so are seen with much less regularity than the Storm Wagons.

Resistance Storm / Thunder Wagons picture 3

You get 3 Wagons in a pack each can be built as a Storm or Thunder Wagon. All for £12.

These are all available on our webstore now.

W.I.P Wednesday Shaltari Basing from TTCombat

W.I.P Wednesday Shaltari Basing from TTCombat

W.I.P Wednesday Shaltari Basing

Take a look in here for how Fin has been basing up some Shaltari braves…

Fin has been creating some pavement bases for these Shaltari, I went to talk to him to get a rundown on how he went about it!

Fin started by priming them black and then covering flat areas with diorama effect thick mud. Watering the mud down gives a perfect tarmac texture.

At this point you can paint your models to completion before moving on to giving the mud a black undercoat.

After the undercoat has dried, he dry brushed the mud brown, then a grey followed by a lighter grey to bring it up to an urban concrete colour.

After the basing texture is done, you can continue to stick any foliage and rocks to add extra detail and depth to the bases. To really polish them up fin has painted the rocks and given them a quick wash. It’s not necessary and entirely up to personal taste!

The final stage of any basing project is to paint the rim of the base black.

You can check out our Dropzone models here and the Shaltari used here.

Dropzone Commander Balance Pass v2.2 from TTCombat

Dropzone Commander Balance Pass v2.2 from TTCombat

It’s time for a Dropzone Commander Balance Pass. We’ve had a fair bit of feedback from he community and it was quite clear that there was a faction in need of focus for this balance pass.

We have had a fair bit of feedback from Shaltari players that they are really struggling to feel competitive across the range against all factions. So we’ve had a look and made some changes we believe make everything competitive.

Of course Shaltari should always feel like a Glass Cannon, they don’t do prolonged firefights, but when they get shots off they should be causing a lot of damage.  These changes bring  them to a suitable level.

Of course there are changes for other factions. Let’s take a look:

UCM

Only the one change for the UCM on this occasion. The last balance pass gave them some much needed heavy firepower. However the Braodsword being 75 points considering its firepower and durability was a bit too cheap, so a price increase to 85 points has been applied.

Broadsword

Price increased to 85 points for this beast.

Scourge

We’ve rebalanced the Annihilator to make it more usable now. It deploys as an aircraft and has had a points reduction.

The Screamer has had it’s rules clarified so it’s effect stacks with other effects that impact scanning.

The Overseer has had it’s special rule rewritten. This is too make it easier to use as well as uniforming it’s effect a bit. Now it grants rerolls to all damage rolls made with affected weapons.

We’ve also fixed the Erradicator’s claws to bring them in line with other CC weapons on vehicles.

PHR

We’ve renamed a few of the weapons to make them more uniform. No stat changes.

Bellona

Those railguns had a strange name. They are now correctly Light Railguns

Shaltari

Many changes, and rather than list them all here let’s go through some key ones.

We wanted the Shaltari to have one vehicle that really exemplified the Glass Cannon strategy of the Shaltari. Easy to destroy but packed a punch that would rip apart absolutely anything it hit. We felt the Crocodile was perfect for this. As a skimmer, even E7 AA-2 weapons can hurt it, firepower from main battle tanks will tear through it. However, the Particle Cannon is now a Heavy Particle Cannon since it’s fitted to a more stable platform than the Ocelot. This gives it the highest Energy shot in the game at E14. The only real difference now is that it crits more often than not, and with Devastator-2 (ALL) when it does Crit that’s 4 damage in one single shot. With Unlimited range that ignores Active and Passive Countermeasures. Two of these will annihilate a Hades more often than not in one turn, so long as they get the first shot of course. With a M&F of 0″, you have to position this right and make sure the shot counts before you take any return fire.

We’ve also made the Gaia gate a little more survivable by increasing it’s damage points and allowing it to control it’s Charged Atmosphere a little more, now it can target Aircraft in it’s own activation. It’s still short range, but it gives you a reason to take this bigger gate.

The Kukri and Tomahawk have also been boosted. Both now have a 4+ passive save. The Kukri has a little more mobility too now.

Both Coyote and Puma have had an upgrade on their Passive save to 3+ to give them a little more survivability.

There has been general point changes throughout the faction, some up, some down.

Take a look at the full changelog to get the full rundown of Shaltari changes.

Resistance

We’ve fixed the Pizzaro’s claws.

The Attack ATV’s Incendiary Grenades now hit on 2+.

Summary

That’s all for now.  Please check the changelog here for more information. The changes are already active on the Dropzone Army Builder.

Please let us know your thoughts on any changes, as always, feedback from the tabletop is very appreciated.

WIP Wed – 10 Years of Dropzone from TTCombat

WIP Wed – 10 Years of Dropzone from TTCombat

It’s a big birthday this year!

2020 is upon us, and it marks the 10th birthday of Dropzone Commander!

I know what you’re thinking, veteran Dropzone fans: “But Dropzone came out in 2012!” and that’s true! However, the first work Dave did on the game was in January 2010. It takes a while to make a game, that’s for sure!

So for this WIP Wednesday, we thought we’d take a trip down memory lane to some very old WIP pics. Dave has very very kindly opened up his sketchbook to the viewing public for us all to have a peek at where our beloved game started off. Dave says:

There’s some pretty funny stuff in there (10 years ago, remember) but also the routes of the whole range really.

This was the very first stuff Dave came up with, so just take a look at your 10 year challenge before judging too harshly!

UCM picture 1

We’re starting off with the UCM, or – as they were known at the time – the Colonial Confederation. At this early stage Dave was sketching up a universal dropship, which ended up being the Condor we all know and love!

UCM picture 2

We move onto some light dropships, and we really like these designs! What would turn into the Raven started with a much more front-heavy design – a long way from the Titania pattern Raven we saw released in December!

You’ll also see Dave’s signature on the bottom, and dated the 6th January 2010!

Scourge picture 1

Next we’ve got the Scourge, and you can clearly see a Tormentor taking shape. There’s plenty of detail here, and just so many numbers scrawled on! You can tell Dave has an engineering background from these sketches!

PHR picture 1

Of course we have the PHR as well, with a sneak peek at some walkers. Now, these originally started off as UCM walkers, which you can see in the cockpit of the bottom one and the nose of the top (it looks a lot like the Archangel). But these designs got moved on and turned into PHR walkers.

Shaltari

Finally today some of the very first pictures of Shaltari. These are quite different from what we ended up with! The shape of the fins look quite Scourgey here to me, but over the next few pages of the sketchbook Dave polished the design. One thing you can clearly see is the hole at the centre of what would turn into the Shaltari Gates – probably the most iconic style of the entire army. We’re glad they swapped the teeth for the geometric shapes though!

There we have it! Just a little dip into the goldmine of Dave’s old sketches. I’m sure we’ll take another look at them in the future, so let us know if you enjoyed this trip into the secret history of Dropzone Commander!
