Pendraken Miniatures 2019 Top 10 Requests

With a new year comes an updated Top 10 Requests!  There's only been a few changes since the last list, but we're making some good progress.

Top 10 Ranges:
1.   Naps in India
2.   War of 1812
3.   1920's/1930's Gangsters
4.   Yom Kippur
5.   Modern Infantry (US/UK)
6.   Modern Insurgents (Afghan/African)
7.   Medieval Expansion
8.   Boxer Rebellion

The majority of these requests have been in the Top 10 for some time now but we're being held up slightly by other projects in a similar period.  The Naps in India and War of 1812 can't be started until we've finished off 1809 and done some work in the Peninsular, so we need to get those areas sorted out first.  Similar with the Yom Kippur and Modern requests, these are part of a larger chronological expansion from WWII onwards, so with Korea out there now we can move on to the Arab-Israeli conflicts towards the end of this year hopefully.

Elsewhere, the Boxer rebellion will depend largely on how well the Indian Mutiny range sells when it's released in a couple of months time.  If sales are strong then it'll show an appetite for this area of history and we can then look at the Sikh Wars, Opium Wars and the Boxer Rebellion.

Two items on the Top 10 Items can be ticked off as we got both the Pirates and Vietnam Radio Ops sculpted at the end of 2018.  They've not been put into master moulds yet but they won't be far away.  So, coming into the Top 10 we've got Huey conversions on our existing model (to make open doored versions with guns/rockets), followed by drivers and passengers for our WWII vehicles.  The latter request is something we've already got on our radar as it's not a difficult one to get done.

With the rest of the Top 10, we've got the Italian artillery on the sculptors schedule for this year while he's doing the missing Korean War artillery and we'll get him to do the Russian 37mm AA as well.  We'll also be looking at some new Fantasy monsters and conversions of some of the old figures, so we'll try and include Bears in our plans.

Pendraken Miniatures Sculpting plans for 2019

This is what our sculptors are currently scheduled to be working on through 2019.

What We're Working On - 2019!

Tony
1. 1809 Naps - Our 1809 expansion, funded through our not-Kickstarter and covering Hesse, Saxony, Warsaw and Wurttemburg.
2. ? ? ? - A mystery project here, more details to come on this once a few packages arrive at Pendraken HQ...
3. Crimean War - We've been wanting to revamp our existing Crimean range for some time now so this will be getting done before the end of the year.

Phil (Techno)
1. Greeks & Persians - Continuing the revamping of our Ancients range, these will be the first to come online in 2019.
2. Macedonians & Indians - Quickly followed by Alexander's travels into India.
3. Warband monsters - These will be dotted throughout the second half of the year, mainly conversions on some of the out-of-production figures to bring them up to current standard.
4. Arab-Israeli - With the above completed, we'll be starting work on the Arab-Israeli conflicts.

1. Saladin/Saracen - Mart will be continuing to work on expanding our modern ranges starting with the Saladin and Saracen, which should be with us imminently.

2. Korean Artillery - There's a number of artillery pieces that we're missing for the new Korea range so Steve will be doing these first.
3. WWII Artillery - We also need to add a number of pieces for the Italians plus a Russian 37mm AA.
4. Panzer III's - Next on the revamp schedule are the Pz III's.

Ironclad
1. ? ? ? - John's going to be helping out with our mystery project, so this will be his first job of 2019.
2. WWII - We're then going to add a few items for the Eastern Front and start a new range based around Normandy, so farms, houses, etc.
3. Odds and ends - We've got a few additions for the ACW and 18th/19th C Europe.

Pendraken Miniatures Plans for 2019

We hope you've all had a good Christmas and New Year and that you're starting to prep your new projects for 2019!  We've got a lot planned ourselves, so let's run through what's on the cards for the next 12 months.

Blitzkrieg Commander IV
BKC-IV is almost ready now, we're currently making a few tweaks to the army lists and then the pdf will be getting sent out to a wider group for final feedback.  Once we get that back, we'll finalise the file and get it over to the printers.  We've missed too many deadlines with this so we're not going to put another date on it at this point, but we are getting there.

Kickstarters
Whilst the feedback group are looking over BKC, we'll be making a whole load of moulds for both the 1809 Not-Kickstarter and our 28mm 'Bad Guys' Kickstarter as well.  These two projects are due to be posted out in February and January respectively, so these will be prioritised to make sure that everyone gets their figures on schedule.  With the success of both of these projects, we'll be looking at this same method for some other ranges later in the year.

Mystery Project.
We'll have more info on this very soon, we're just waiting on some packages to arrive at Pendraken HQ.

TB Line
In amongst the above we'll be continuing to bring the TB Line ranges back online.  The work needed to get the figures prepped and ready for new production moulds has been more than anticipated so things haven't progressed as quickly as we'd have liked.  We've got the Islamics and Teutonics to do next and they should both be done before Salute in April.

New Ranges
As well as the Kickstarter projects mentioned above, we've also got some ranges which have been sculpted and are just waiting to work their way through the moulding process.  These include:

- Indian Mutiny will be first up with a comprehensive set of codes covering everything needed for this conflict.  These should be done by March/April time hopefully.
- Next we'll be getting the Dacian and Sarmatian revamp moulded and released, which needs to be done before we can get started on the Greek and Persian moulds.
- There's quite a few odds and ends knocking about Pendraken HQ which we'll be slotting in wherever there's a gap, including WSS revamps, pirates, Vietnam additions, Nap French cavalry and Guard types, WWI narrow gauge railway plus a rather nice V1 launch ramp!

Sculpting
While the above is being released there'll be a steady stream of new sculpts arriving as well.  We've worked through all of the sculptors and put together a rough plan of what they'll be doing, which can be seen here: http://www.pendrakenforum.co.uk/index.php/topic,18123.0.html  To summarise what's being done:

- Ancient Greeks, Persians and Indians, followed by some Fantasy Monsters and then Arab-Israeli.
- 1809 expansion, mystery project, Crimean War.
- Korean War artillery, then Italian artillery for WWII.
- Saracen and Saladin, followed by main MBT's and trucks.

Minibits
On the Minibits side of things, we'll be completing our 28mm Kickstarter campaign first and getting that sent out to all of our backers.  We might run another Kickstarter in the summer, but we don't have any definite plans on that just yet.  With that done we'll then have some more MDF buildings from RedVectors, so we'll be working on those next. 

We've also got some new third-party product ranges which we'll be starting to stock through this year, so keep an eye out for more news on that in the coming weeks.

Website Photos
With the extra casting staff up to speed now, we'll be putting a lot of time and effort into the website photo situation.  We've tallied up and there's a little over 1500 products still missing images, so we'll have the casting guys getting all of those missing items cast up and then I can start photoing once the BKC/Kickstarter/Indian Mutiny jobs have been ticked off.

Painting Competition
With the previous Pendraken Painting Competition taking place only 6 months ago, we've decided that rather than run it through February as planned, we'll leave it until February 2020 instead.  With all of the work to be done on BKC and the Kickstarters, it's not really an ideal time of year to be running a large event, so we'll delay it a little and give everyone 18 months to build up some entries.  This means that we'll be able to get a bigger pile of prizes as well, which is always a good thing!

Armies and Enemies of Louis XIV: Volume 1: Western Europe 1688-1714 - France, England, Holland

This book originally saw the light of day as a long running series of articles in Wargames Illustrated in the late 1980’s.

Due to growing interest in the wars of the late 17th century, the author of the original features has complied them along with new research and made them available again for the first time in thirty years. The book is very much a handbook covering all the major conflicts and battles of the period, it examines how the armies were organised and fought.

Each army is covered, with attention paid to specific uniform details, and the colours carried by the individual regiments.

1092 Releases in 5 years by Pendraken Miniatures

We managed to hit a 4-figure releases total a few years ago but this time we've gone even further!  After a very busy 2018 we've now released a massive 1092 new products over the last 5 years. 

The amount of time, money and effort that goes into our releases schedule is huge and it's one of the key aspects of our business.  We've spent a lot of years developing and expanding our ranges to give people more options and make this scale more appealable, so we hope that folks are seeing all of these new ranges and giving 10mm a look for their next project.
