Waterloo British Released by Pendraken

On the 200th anniversary of the Battle of Waterloo, and after some unfortunate delays at our end, we're very happy to release Part One of our new 10mm 1812-1815 Napoleonic British!

This first batch covers all of the foot, command and cavalry codes, and we'll be following this up with the artillery, limbers and personalities in a few weeks time. (There was a slight issue with the artillery carriages, so we're just working on those.) We'll also be putting together one of our usual army packs once the range is complete.

Good Ground LLC, Creating New Packs

Good Ground has been very busy creating new packs over the last two months. We expect to launch all of these sets prior to Historicon next month. Casting should begin shortly with our friends at Griffin Moulds. Most of these figures have been completed since May, but we had some delay while our casting company relocated to a new facility. They are now back in production, and all our new figures are awaiting production molds, which is now underway.

The Early-War CS Militia or U.S. Regulars will be available firing and marching with three head-gear options. These are Kepi, Kepi with Havelock, and Slouch Hats.

Zouaves will take a bit longer as they will have four headgear options: Fez, Turbaned Fez, Kepi, and Straw Hats. I still expect them by Historicon, as the master mold is already configured.

Rebel Minis Releases Mighty Armies

I am proud to announce the release of our new Mighty Armies: Warmonger line. MA: Warmonger is a line of 10mm miniature armies for playing Mighty Armies. The MA: Warmonger starter box contains a Wild Elf Army, an Orc Army, a small rules booklet (also a full-size download of the rules), two rulers, a pair of dice, and a stat card (a download) for the Orc and Wild Elf armies. This is the first line we have where the miniatures are on strips.

Gunboat: Squadron Commander Rules

Capitan Games Ltd are pleased to announce the launch of their Napoleonic Naval Gunboat Rules, Gunboat: Squadron Commander. The rulebook will be available to order for £25.00 from our online shop in a week or so.

The beautiful 10mm scale gunboat kits (made and designed in collaboration with Laser Dream Works from the U.S.A.) and crew figures are in stock, and can also be ordered from the shop.

After the highly successful launch of the range at Salute" on 25th April, we would like to thank Southend Wargames Club for their cleverly designed and executed demonstration game, The Siege of Rosas 1808. The concept of the rules is to provide an uncomplicated, fun game which can be completed in an evening… but beware! The blood flows freely!

Squadron Commander Rules

SQUADRON COMMANDER is designed specifically to play with the 10mm Crew miniatures from Capitan Games, and the Gunboats & Ships made by Laser Dream Works for Capitan Games.

The main elements of the game are the gunboats and ships, along with their crews.

”Gunboat”, our original Napoleonic small naval action rule set, has grown and, with this second edition, has become SQUADRON COMMANDER in an updated form. The game has been re-scaled for a better playability and is supported by a whole range of miniature crews and ships that are available in 10mm scale.

With this re-scaling, players will be able to play on a smaller game table with smaller gunboats or on, a larger table, with cutters, brigs of war, sloops, corvettes, frigates, Xebecs, and much more.  Also in this 2nd edition we have introduced two new kits from the great “Hearts of Oak” Ships of the Line a 4th rate (50 & 64 gun) and a 3rd rate (74 & 80 gun).

We are investigating the introduction of 2nd and 1st rate vessels later, together with a merchant or “Indiaman” vessel. As a result of these moves, we have made a small adjustment to the rules.

With these changes, the rules have been expanded and cover all ship types and there is a full set of ship characteristics and crew charts ready to play straight from the book. By including the great “Ships of the Line” and  Frigates, players will be able to recreate the famous frigate actions of the Napoleonic wars, with Privateers or take the role of a captain of the Royal Navy, like Lord Cochrane on HMS Imperieuse, the French Privateer, Surcouf, with Le Confiance, Stephen Decatur who fought against the Barbary pirates or Spanish Captain Barcelo and his gunboats attacking Gibraltar… all this using a single rule set… action on the high seas, coastal landings, shore actions, cutting-out operations… plenty of enjoyment and history in one book…

As a tactical game, Gunboat – Squadron Commander is designed to be played with a few ships per side, but ships which provide a strong visual experience as well as quick exciting game play, Squadron Commander is a new concept in naval games, emphasising the individual action of ships and crews rather than those of fleets.
