Eyrie Bunker

The Jellies are coming! They're going to squirm into your brain and walk you around like a puppet! Don't risk your family's safety, and take all your valuables (particularly your vehicles, we really need those) to a patented Eyrie Bunker! Safe against any invasion!

With a heavy-set design, the Eyrie Bunker is the answer to your worries. It is low to the ground and reinforced with the sturdiest MDF, making a perfect place to hide objectives (good luck finding them again though).

Made from 3mm MDF and 1mm greyboard, this kit stands at 8cm high and is designed for games of Dropzone Commander, but will work perfectly with any similar scale games.

Model supplied unpainted and requires assembly. We advise using PVA glue for the best results.

Oval Building

"Hello Oval Building, Tony speaking. Yes I can put you through. Can I ask who is calling please? Our new Scourge masters? Okay, and what is this in reference to? The imminent destruction of our race and the occupation of the Oval Building as a new Scourge headquarters? Hmm... that sounds like you'll want to speak to Linda in Real Estate. Putting you through now!"

The Oval Building is a piece of MDF trickery. Made using flat pieces of wood, you'll never know the man-hours put in to turn this otherwise simple material into the ergonomic perfection of ovality (that's a word).

At approximately 18cm tall, it is perfect for 10mm scale gaming. Made from 3mm MDF and 1mm greyboard, the kit is designed for games of Dropzone Commander, but will work perfectly with any similar scale games.

Chrysar Building

A true marvel of engineering, the very fact that the Chrysar Building is still standing in the 27th Century is a testament to its construction. Also that no alien races have knocked it down yet!

One of the tallest buildings we've produced for 10mm games, the Chrysar Building stands at approximately 12cm tall, making it perfect for 10mm scale gaming. Brownstone Rows

Are you looking for some prime Earth real-estate? Maybe something inner city, right next to the Scourge people farm? Look no further than the Brownstone Rows!

With simple construction, and a whole lot of bang for your buck, the Brownstone Rows give a fantastic way to bulk out a board with buildings. These kits don't even need glue to put together (with the exception of the roof vents), meaning they can be slotted together in seconds and then taken apart for flat storage.

This kit comes with four Brownstone Rows, each of which has a unique design. Standing at 6cm high and 13cm long, they're perfect small buildings.

Spithead Have Released Two More Wooden Ship Sets As Part Of Their Lissa Project from Pithead Miniatures

Spithead have released two more wooden ship sets as part of their Lissa project, these vessels include the Italian Avisio’s and the gunboats of the Austrian 3rd division, neither of which have previously been made by a  wargaming company.

Italian Avisios

Each of the three Italian Ironclad divisions and wooden frigate squadron of Albini had a paddle steamer Avisio attached so that flag signals could be repeated at greater distances and despatches carried throughout the fleet. These vessels were generally fast paddle steamers like the Esploratore and Messaggere built by Wigram & Sons, of Blackwall London, both of these vessels, although only lightly armed could steam at 17 knots which was very fast for the day and they were probably the most elegant vessels in either fleet. The twin stack Governolo was an older paddle frigate attached to Albini’s squadron as was the small frigate San Giovanni.

Austrian Third Division

At Lissa the Austrian navy committed every vessel that they had to the battle including seven gunboats that made up the 3rd division. These vessels were small flush decked screw steamers and were  in reality  unsuited for the line of battle but never the less they were committed to the action. The gunboats were made up of two classes of vessels, Reka, Seehund,  Streiter and Wall of the “Reka Class” and  Dalmat, Hum  and Velebich of the  "Dalmat Class". These vessels can be  distinguished from each other by the larger bridge structure aft of the funnel which was an improvement only  fitted to the later  . Each vessel was lightly armed compared to the similar sized USS Unadilla class that mounted a huge 11 inch smoothbore pivot gun, these vessels only  carried 4 x 24lb rifled cannons and 2 x 24lb and 2 x 48lb smoothbores respectively.

The First Day on the Eastern Front: Germany Invades the Soviet Union, June 22, 1941

Sunday, June 22, 1941: three million German soldiers invaded the Soviet Union as part of Hitler's long-planned Operation Barbarossa, which aimed to destroy the Soviet Union, secure its land as lebensraum for the Third Reich, and enslave its Slavic population.

From launching points in newly acquired Poland, in three prongs--North, Central, South--German forces stormed western Russia, virtually from the Baltic to the Black Sea. By late fall, the invasion had foundered against Russian weather, terrain, and resistance, and by December, it had failed at the gates of Moscow, but early on, as the Germans sliced through Russian territory and soldiers with impunity, capturing hundreds of thousands, it seemed as though Russia would fall.

In the spirit of Martin Middlebrook's classic First Day on the Somme, Craig Luther narrates the events of June 22, 1941, a day when German military might was at its peak and seemed as though it would easily conquer the Soviet Union, a day the common soldiers would remember for its tension and the frogs bellowing in the Polish marshlands.

It was a day when the German blitzkrieg decimated Soviet command and control within hours and seemed like nothing would stop it from taking Moscow. Luther narrates June 22--one of the pivotal days of World War II--from high command down to the tanks and soldiers at the sharp end, covering strategy as well as tactics and the vivid personal stories of the men who crossed the border into the Soviet Union that fateful day, which is the Eastern Front in microcosm, representing the years of industrial-scale warfare that followed and the unremitting hostility of Germans and Soviets.
