12mm Hind Helicopter from Butlers Printed Models

One Mil Mi-24 D Hind helicopter. Available in 6mm (1/285), 12mm (1/144), 15mm (1/100), 20mm (1/76) and 28mm (1/56).

Unusually for us this item comes as a kit that needs to be assembled and glued together.  Assembly is easy as there are only a few parts (pictures show a 15mm model).

The Hind is modelled with a hole underneath which will fit our aircraft stand (sold separately).  Glue the helicopter to the stand or use a rare earth magnet (magnet not supplied).  The hole is ideal to glue in place a 5 mm diameter, 1 mm thick, rare earth magnet to allow easy mounting to the stand.

The main rotor is glued to a mount which may itself be glued to the main body of the helicopter or again attached with a 5 mm diameter, 1 mm thick, rare earth magnet (magnet not supplied).

The Mil Mi-24 is a large helicopter gunship, attack helicopter and low-capacity troop transport with room for eight passengers. It is produced by Mil Moscow Helicopter Plant and has been operated since 1972 by the Soviet Air Force and its successors, along with 48 other nations.

In NATO circles, the export versions, Mi-25 and Mi-35, are denoted with a letter suffix as "Hind D" and "Hind E". Soviet pilots called the Mi-24 the "flying tank", a term used historically with the famous World War II Soviet Il-2 Shturmovik armored ground attack aircraft. More common unofficial nicknames were "Galina", "Crocodile", due to the helicopter's camouflage scheme and "Drinking Glass", because of the flat glass plates that surround earlier Mi-24 variants' cockpits.

There are 6 hard points for weapon mounts. Two pairs of Shturm rockets fit on the outer points
The remaining four points fit a choice of weapons, the hind is supplied with:

4x UB32 rocket pods
2x S24 rockets
2x UPK-23-250 twin barreled autocannon pods
