Happy New Year

Happy New Year

As 2019 dawns, I cannot help but reflect once more on the incredible year it follows. We had many opportunities to advance our mission, and I know I asked a lot of you. Today, I can think of no better way to ring in the new year than by conveying my enormous gratitude for your commitment to this cause.

Dedicated preservationists like you saved 2,781 acres of American battlefield land. This includes acres at Appomattox Court House, Brandy Station and Gettysburg. But your generosity in 2018 wasn't limited to Civil War battlefields you have also made strides at saving Revolutionary War acres at Princeton, Yorktown and Brandywine. Together, we reached the milestone of over 50,000 acres saved in our history as an organization.

Not only did you safeguard these precious places, you supported education efforts, such as the Field Trip Fund and our National Teacher Institute, to pass on the important stories of these places and engender a passion for American history in the next generation.

You have demonstrated tremendous generosity in ensuring that these sacred places are protected, and that the public knows what happened on these hallowed acres. I will soon share updates on the efforts you have put forth in the past few weeks.

I want to personally extend my deepest thanks to you. I am both humbled and honored by your steadfast dedication to the cause. Thank you for ensuring that these sacred spaces and their stories live on.

I look forward to many more shared successes in 2019.

I know that you'll agree we cannot rest on our laurels when there is so much still to be done, but I hope you'll take a moment today to watch our 2018 year in review and appreciate all that we've accomplished together so far.
