Sponsor a Teacher and Inspire Their Students: Support the National Teacher Institute

Sponsor a Teacher and Inspire Their Students: Support the National Teacher Institute

History is a living, breathing entity. It helps to tell the story of who we are as a nation, while guiding us into tomorrow. The gatekeepers to our past are educators dedicated men and women who spend some nine months out of the year helping to cultivate the historians and citizens of tomorrow.

The best teachers out there make it look easy. They engage with their students, instill a passion for the past, bring history alive in their classroom. But it is not as easy as they make it look. Countless hours of study and prep time go into each and every class. We at the Civil War Trust strive to make it just a little easier for these dedicated professionals.

This is why we started the Civil War Trust's annual National Teacher Institute. This event brings together K-12 educators from around the United States and provides them with world-class lectures, workshops, and tours. Through the Teacher Institute, educators can engage with like-minded professionals, learn some of the latest teaching techniques, and acquire continuing-education credits, which are required by most states. This is our opportunity to help those who help our children every day, providing them the tools to be better educators.

Every year, we strive to provide this event to our teachers for free, but we can’t do it alone. Fellow donors and sponsors have pledged to cover the majority of the costs, and we’re asking for your help to raise the remaining funds. Our goal is to raise $25,000 so teachers can receive exceptional materials and instruction for teaching U.S. history in their classrooms.

For those folks who believe history education is lacking in the United States, and for those who believe in history education, here is an opportunity to make a difference in the lives of students and educators.

To give you a sense of scale, for $100 you can sponsor two teachers, who will receive continuing education credits that many of them will need to teach in the upcoming school year.

These workshops and credits not only benefit these educators, they benefit future generations of Americans. By giving today, you will help to make a difference for a deserving teacher and inspire students across America. We hope that you can help.
