Save Chickamauga and Chattanooga 2015

The Civil War Trust and its members take pride in preserving unprotected battlefields like we did with great success in 2013, when we preserved Reed’s Bridge, scene of the opening action of the Battle of Chickamauga. Now, not only are we working to add 30 acres to our property at Reed’s Bridge but we also have an opportunity to save 12 acres at the Brown’s Ferry Battlefield, where soldiers North and South fought for the key Tennessee River crossing point and opened the “Cracker Line.” The Union prevailed and thus began the relief of the besieged city of Chattanooga. The number of acres preserved to date at Brown’s Ferry is zero. Once again, the Civil War Trust can save new battlefields and build on past success.
